Beauty | Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer

I've had the Revlon Photoready primer for a while now and I have never done a review on it because it's one of those products I can't quite make my mind up about. I have a love hate relationship with one day I love how my skin looks and the next day I hate it and want to take all my makeup of and do it again, not ideal.

I'll start with the basics of the products and what Revlon says "Lightweight primer smoothes and softens skin to create the perfect canvas. Reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines. Wear alone or under foundation." That is basically what it does like any primer it covers in those areas we don't want foundation to cling and stick to  providing an even and smooth base for you to apply foundation on to. It is a little siliconey feeling but it is still quite sheer and lightweight and it definitely fills in my pores.

I know a lot of people have a whole morning skincare routine and so do I, but not when I wear this primer! I find the more layers you have on your skin the more it seems to slide about and as soon as you put foundation on top of it it goes lumpy and my pores look HUUUUGE. It is definitely an either or product either wear moisturiser and no primer or just wear primer.

This is the only way that I find the product works and even at that I do find it sometimes seems to peel when you put foundation on top of it. However, that was before the beauty blender type sponges came into my life! This primer and either the photoready foundation or colourstay and I have the perfect base.
It is definitely one of those products you need to persevere with and find out how it works for you.

Do you have any love/hate products and what are your favourite primers?

  1. Haha we seem to use the same primers as I also have PhotoReady! Although I use it in the evening & just use the Bourjois serum primer in the daytime. I mainly use it for the obvious photoready effects, but do find it to peel and be a bit irritating to deal with when applying foundation. Other than that it does do the job okay for keeping my makeup in place! Interesting to see another perspective on it :) x

  2. I love Smashbox primers, especially their hydrating one. It works wonders for my dry and dehydrated skin. This sounds nice, but I think it would probably peel on me as I find a lot of skincare does that, so it would put me off from buying it.

  4. I felt exactly the same with this primer, it took me a while to get used to it and I really used to hate how small dry bits would appear once applied. However eventually I did fall in love with this at one point, but I've tried so many better primers than this one like the Mac skin base and Smashbox Photo Finish primer which are much better!
